The Synchronous Approach to Reactive and Real-Time Systems

This special issue is devoted to the synchronous approach to reactive and real-time programming. This introductory paper presents and discusses the application fields and the principles of synchronous programming. The major concern of the synchronous approach is to base synchronous programming languages on mathematical models. This makes it possible to handle compilation, logical correctness pr...

Normalization and Compilation of Deductive and Object-Oriented Databases Programs for Efficient Query Evaluation

A normalization process is proposed to serve not only as a preprocessing stage for compilation and evaluation but also as a tool for classifying recursions. Then the query-independent compilation and chain-based evaluation method can be extended naturally to process a class of DOOD programs and queries. The query-independent compilation captures the bindings that could be diicult to be captured...

Performance Range Comparison for Restructuring Compilation Xian-he Sun

A major diiculty in restructuring compilation is how to compare parallel performance over a range of system and problem sizes. This study introduces the concept of range comparison for data-parallel programming. Unlike conventional execution time comparison in which performance is compared for a particular system and problem size, range comparison compares the performance of programs over a ran...
